Y O G A of the B O O K - D O W N T O W N
After a successful spring run at Downward Dog in the Beach, the Yoga of the Book book club comes to the downtown studios of Downward Dog for the summer!
The formula remains the same: one hour of ashtanga yoga followed by one hour of structured discussion on that week's reading. The idea is that just as asana is excellent preparation for meditation, so is it helpful in preparing the way for meaningful exchange and exploration. Come discover the power that asana has to unlock the treasures of some truly great literature!
READINGS WILL INCLUDE:
The Bhagavad Gita: A New Translation by Stephen Mitchell
The Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu
The Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson
Two short tales from the Brothers Grimm and Genesis
Sundays, June 19, 26 and July 10, 24 (no session July 3rd 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Downward Dog Yoga Centre. 735 Queen St. West, 2nd Floor (near Bathurst and Queen in Toronto).
Class size limited to 10, please register in advance. $85 (plus tax).
There will be flexibility in the amount of reading participants are required to do each week, so that participants can better tailor the workshop to their busy lives. Students should obtain The Baghavad Gita: A New Translation by Stephen Mitchell and The Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson -- if possible before coming to the first session!
